A Rainy Wedding Day at Faulkner's Ranch, Kansas City // McKenzie + Nick
Nick stood under a canopy of big trees at Faulkner's Ranch, in between rain showers, waiting for his bride to come tap his shoulder, and for them to share their first look. For them to let tears fall together, to read letters, to share hugs. Rain or shine, their day was here! And rain or shine - made no difference to these lovebirds.
Their sweet guests began to arrive with umbrellas in hand, smiles on their faces, and love and support all around. Their photos were interrupted multiple times by monsoon-style rain, and one of the biggest rains of all occurred just moments before their outdoor ceremony was set to begin. When that rain happened, raindrops the size of snowflakes came down with a sense of urgency....and yet....McKenzie and Nick weren't phased.
We waited it out and ultimately were blessed with a beautiful ceremony that only had thunder, wind, and dark clouds...but no rain fell! And when their ceremony ended and these two newlyweds exited, a few more photos were managed before once again, we all had to run for cover as the skies opened up and poured, with no sign of stopping.
Essentially, McKenzie and Nick spent their whole wedding day dodging raindrops and running for cover as storms moved in and out over and over in the skies above the gorgeous Faulkner's Ranch...And yet, despite all that, never once...not even for a little bit, did their smiles or joy fade. Wet shoes, damp hair - whatever was thrown at them, it couldn't get them down. Their level of happiness was nearly tangible. This day was too important, too big and too special for rain to get in the way of how happy McKenzie and Nick were to marry one another!
After barely making it through some wedding party photos and family portraits...those threatening skies finally gave way to an absolute monsoon... Luckily, Faulkner's Ranch has a covered porch area on their barn, as well as a sizeable covered pavilion....Everyone, and I do mean everyone - ran like the wind that was swirling around the second those massive raindrops started! And thank goodness we did, just look at this crazy rain, it looked like snowflakes!! -
Faulkner's Ranch sweet little resident kitty, Pumpkin, decided to join in for a quick photo! So cute!!
The collective decision was to wait it out, we all had faith that the rain would stop! And it did!!!
Moments before McKenzie walked down the aisle with her sweet Dad, they paused for him to add her sixpence coin to her left shoe...and then, they were ready...
Despite the fact that Nick had seen McKenzie earlier in the day for their First Look...the moment she walked down the aisle to him was still overwhelmingly magical! His reaction was unbelievably sweet to witness!
The thunder had rumbled all through their ceremony, and by the time the vows were said, we knew we didn't have long before the skies were going to open up again! A few quick photos of the newlyweds by a gate, and then we had to run for cover once again!
The amazing team behind this perfect day!
