Arizona Part One // Horseshoe Bend and The Grand Canyon

ARIZONA!! A first for both of us, a big family trip
We had a long drive after our arriving flight into Phoenix touched down to get to our Airbnb, but a random and dangerous forest fire rerouted us and turned out drive into a nearly 4-hour affair that first night. There are no photos from this (unless you follow me on Instagram, my stories were featuring the whole thing that night!), but no big-girl camera photos since it was packed up and also because we were losing our minds haha. Getting my camera out was the last thing on my mind. The thing on the forefront was not getting stuck on the single lane dirt road with the hundreds of other travelers all trying to escape the fire that was getting closer to us! It was a mess! We survived, but it was definitely one of the longest drives of our lives!

The next morning, despite that, we hopped in the car for another multi-hour drive just to go see the following, Horeshoe Bend. It was an easy hike, a crowded destination, and an epic view. Not many photos from this either seeing as how it really is just a massive hole and that’s about it - but man, was it ever worth seeing, so unbelievable!!

That evening we drove back and met up with the inlaws and my sister/brother in law, hanging out, dinner, and a somewhat early bedtime for us all! The next day would be Grand Canyon trip numbero uno!

The Grand Canyon!! Definitely a pretty amazing view and something out of this world! On day one, it was just us 6 checking out the sites, which much like Horeshoe Bend is just the below - a vast view from up top.

On Day 2 - my brother in laws parents, sister and her family all joined us, and this time around after leaving our side-by-side Airbnb’s, we took The Grand Canyon train back in! A cool and memorable way to see the Grand Canyon for a second day. On this day a bit more hiking was done as well!

After 2 days seeing The Grand Canyon, Wes and I and my inlaws opted to do our own thing in and around Sedona the next day while Kels and Paul (sis and bro in law) along with Paul’s side of the family, revisited The Grand Canyon for the third day.

Come back tomorrow for a significantly longer post recapping the Sedona portion of our trip!
