North of the River Kansas City Engagement Session // Samantha + Derek
She didn't want to go out that night, but her best friend made her anyways. He was in town for one night, literally - one night. The dance floor was packed as they made their way out and right about then was when their eyes met. This chance encounter - the odds of crossing paths so very narrow, yet it happened. He smiled, she smiled. He asked her to dance with him.
They exchanged numbers.
They parted ways.
She thought she'd never hear from him again.
He text her first thing the next morning.
When he asked her out on a proper date, she didn't know he would be coming in from thousands of miles away, in another state...but he did. They both maybe thought long distance wouldn't work...but it did. For years, it worked.
When he planned to propose to her, rain poured down and she didn't understand the point of still standing out in it, but he asked her to anyways. And she really didn't understand why he asked her to hold the umbrella for a second - but when that ring came out of nowhere...everything made perfect sense.
Samantha and Derek have one of the most serendipitous stories and it of course makes my little romanticizing heart siiiiing. It also makes me grin like a total idiot. But that’s alright and all fine by me!
SO happy for these two, and after an evening like this one below - I'm even more excited for their wedding day next March!!!
