The Best of Couples // Engagement + Anniversary Sessions in 2019!
Ohhhhh my freakin awesome couples! YOU GUYS. Don’t even get me started. 33 sessions rounded out my 2019 season and I loved each and every single one of them in ways I can’t even begin to really describe!! My gosh. Just thinking back to these days makes me a tad misty because I am one seriously lucky photographer! The couples who I get to cross paths with, get to tag-along as their giddy third wheel during some of the most pivotal moments in their lives with — it’s too much! I love it so much!! The 2019 year was a busy one with engagement sessions, a mix of both 2019 wedding couples, 2020 wedding couples, and even one 2021 wedding couple!!
Choosing a “few” favorites from each of these 32 shoots was like, daunting as all get-out lol
Buttt I did it, sorta, kinda, OKAY THE POST IS LONG I CAN’T HELP IT. I would definitely suggest looking at them all though because every couple is wonderful!!

My 2019 season of engagement sessions started off in one of my favorite areas of downtown KC — the River Market! Andddd it also kicked off with one seriously AWESOME couple! Kelsie and Ryan were so.much.freakin’.fun from day one and I loved my time with them! These guys are big beer lovers, even brewing their own on a routine basis, so a few shots at a local brewery and then we skipped around the river market area on foot for more fun pics!
These guys later on tied the knot in May, and you can see their wedding here!
Next up came Allyson and Blake, and though we had a pretty chilly afternoon, these guys rocked it outta the park regardless! Speaking of rocking it, they are SO CUTE together and I loved my time with them!! Up for anything, full of joy and giggles, super cuddly — what more could I hope for!? The last photo I chose as a favorite from their session is intentionally blurry and I’m obsessed with it because it is blurry!! I love movement in photos, y’all!
Allyson and Blake tied the big knot in October of 2019, you can see their day here!
Then came Korie and Zack and all the joy and love they share, these guys are some of the very best and share something oh so dang special!! We were out and about for their engagement session til the sun went down and it was an absolute blast!
These two skipped off for a small, intimate wedding in the Colorado mountains in September of last year, which, due to my extreme altitude sickness, I couldn’t be a part of! BUT! They did another wedding event in November back in the KC area and I got to shoot that one, yayyy! See that day here!
My “other Allyson” of the year!! It’s always fun to see how many names repeat each year…and then super fun to see if I screw up calling their spouses by the other’s name, causeeeeee names are hard lol. This Allyson here, is the other half of her guy, Desi!! Allyson and Desi are wonderful, amazing, loving people and I adore them and their families so much!! For their early spring engagement session at Loose Park, their sweeeetttt pup Coco joined us for a few shots too and she was a perfect little angel!!!
See Allyson and Desi’s August 2019 wedding at The Bowery, here!
OH Abby and Josh…these cuties are too dang much. My goodness. Being around them means you flat out will NOT be able to avoid smiling because they just ooze joy and happiness!! From engagement session to their wedding day, every step and every minute was wonderful! They were marred in September at The Journey Home, you can see their wedding day here!!
Aaahhhh Callie and Brandon!! You may remember these guys! I technically did their true engagement session in 2018, but wasn’t able to shoot their wedding in 2019. Butttt because they are so awesome, they have been there as I’ve needed models for various shoots, and these shots below are ones I took of them during a 2019 branding shoot for myself! Basically a KC photographer (the sweet, Becca Blake!) was taking photos of me “in action” doing my thing, and I was taking photos of Callie and Brandon! It was such a fun afternoon! There’s no way I couldn’t show a few of these despite it not being their “real” engagement photos! If you want to see their true session with me, you can visit that here!
Amanda and Kyle!! Another great visit at KC’s Loose Park, and these two being all cute and giggly together! They rock! Their wedding day came around in early October of 2019, and it was such a good one! You can go see that here!
Next came Laken and Jake! LOVE these guys!! It’s so ironic to me too how I legitimately shot Amanda and Kyle’s (above) engagement session on April 14th, and then 5 days later, AT THE SAME PARK, I did Laken and Jake’s engagement session. Why is that ironic though? Because their weddings were back to back in October, haha. So per my schedule, their engagement sessions were one right after another, at the same park, and then months later in October, their wedding days were one right after another! Crazy how things work out!
Laken and Jake are freakin’ awesome though, let me tell you, I adore them so so much!! If you wanna see their beautiful wedding day at Lone Summit Ranch, you can see it here!
Ann and Fletcher!! These guys had a private lake in their neighborhood in mind for their engagement photos, and not only was it beautiful….but because it spit rain on us as we walked over to the lake, we ended up with a freakin’ RAINBOW and it was glorious!!!
These guys were one of my last weddings of the 2019 season, in early November they were married in a dreamy little spot on the property of The Legacy at Green Hills, see it here!
BETH + WES! Their names and the irony of it will never be lost on me, hahaha. These guys laugh dang near constantly and made me laugh the entire time we spent together! These guys tied the knot in 2019 on a summer day in August at Tobacco Barn Farm! If you want to see their big day, and why wouldn’t you!? You can see that here!
Alexis and Bryan! I didn’t meet these guys until the day of their engagement session, so when they walked up to me in Loose Park looking like they belonged on the red carpet, I was like what even is happening right now!! These guys skipped off for a tropical elopement and I’m just so dang thrilled that I was able to meet them and do their engagement session in Kansas City!
Kennedy and Dillon came next in my year!! Kennedy had a vision for their engagement session where she wanted to take some photos in an old ice cream shop, feeding each other ice cream! And then also take some shots in a greenhouse!! It was a hottt afternoon, that ice cream was perfect, that greenhouse however, was a sauna, haha, but man alive it was all worth it!!!
These guys were my LAST WEDDING OF 2019! I was sooo happy to finish out my year with such a sweet couple! You can see their big day at The Elms here!
Same day as Kennedy and Dillon’s engagement session was also Sarah and Zak’s!! I left Kennedy and Dillon’s shoot and took off to go meet up with Sarah and Zak so we could bebop around the Plaza and finish up at Loose Park — rose garden in full bloom!! Such a good day of shoots!! Sarah and Zak tied the knot in Weston at the Timber Barn of Weston Red Barn Farm in August, you can see their lovely wedding here!
Another Loose Park visit with Monica and Tyler!! I’m sooo glad I was able to visit this beautiful park so much in 2019 during not only the peak of the rose blooms, but just overall last year! Monica and Tyler were rockstars on this beautiful day! These guys were one of my September 2019 weddings, you can see their big day here!
Sarah and Rob!! These cuties, oh my word! We had a stormy-lookin summer evening for their shoot but thankfully avoided the rain for the most part….a few spits of rain here and there got us, but it wasn’t bad! These two are PRECIOUS!! I can’t wait for their June wedding this year!
Amanda and Michael!!!! I’m basically shamelessly obsessed with these guys! I only spoke with Amanda via Facetime once before she booked me, and I didn’t meet her OR Michael in person until literally TWO DAYS before their wedding day! These two currently live in California and trips to the KC area just didn’t work out until they came in a few days before their wedding. SO! We did their engagement session two days before their they tied the knot!!
These guys have been such rays of sunshine in my life! See their EPIC wedding day at the always incredible, Wildcliff Events, here!
Anna and Jack!! For mid summer, we got lucky with a day that wasn’t toooo hot! And after some fun photos at a unique area in KC, we took off toward Arrowhead Stadium to do a few more — to honor a part of their relationship that means so much to them!! Such a fun evening, and I can’t wait for their wedding day this year!!
Oh Molly and Scott! These two are so cute and sweet and so much fun to be around! Hanging out with them is so fun! We walked alllllllll over the Overland Park Arboretum together for their summer engagement session last year! These guys will be getting married in October of this year, and it’s going to be great!
Next up came Tara and Travis and these guys made for one seriously fun evening up in the Northland of Kansas City! Up for anything and full of giggles — love them! Can’t wait to be at Weston Red Barn Farm with these guys for their wedding this June!
Stefanie and Cory!! Another couple I didn’t have the chance of meeting in person until their engagement session, and I loved ‘em from the second we first met! These two are a HOOT together and I’m soooo happy that for my 2020 wedding season, it will start off with these two!! YAY!!
Don’t even get me started on Miranda and Sawyer!! The coffee date I had with Miranda upon booking her was like meeting up with a sweet personal friend, and I adore both of these guys!! Miranda is a firecracker and full of SO MUCH love for Sawyer — and trust me, Sawyer adores her too! I can’t even wait for their wedding this year at Hawthorne House!!
These sweet souls here, Kayla and Joey — two of the most kind hearted and sweetest people I’ve ever met! They are perfect for one another! Their engagement session ended up being soooo chilly, I felt awful that they were going to be cold! Joey tried his best to keep his girl warm and it was precious! Their french-fry loving doggy joined in for a few photos too and I was almost as obsessed with him as I am with them!! Their 2021 wedding is one I am looking forward to and I’m legit bummed that I gotta wait over a dang year before it gets here!!
Greysen and Cory! I had only talked to them via a Facetime call before they booked, so their engagement session was our first in-person meeting!! My first thoughts upon seeing them were, dang, they tall.. lol second thoughts were — dang they cute, dang they sweet, dang look how good they are in front of my camera, DANG I LOVE THEM.
These two, these two right here…are basically new best friends in my life. I ADORE - A D O R E Annie and John! I can’t say enough good things about who they are as people, how kind and warm they are, how much they LOVE each other, my gosh, I just wanna eat it up!! This was EASILY my coldest shoot EVER, it was below freezing this day and holy crap we felt it. Luckily Annie is a genius who brought hand warmers and we had those in pockets and spent time holding them up to our noses haha, so many great memories from ONE shoot, my gosh. LOVE THESE GUYS! Can’t wait for their November wedding day!
Then came along Keri and Brandon — a couple I knew I loved from the moment I met them! Both full of energy, both up for anything, and both SO DANG AWESOME… this shoot had me freaking the eff out the entire time because I knewww every single shot was G O L D. Keri and Brandon both can rock a joyful belly laugh look, anddddd rock a serious romantic look, that’s TALENT folks!! Their wedding day is OBVIOUSLY going to be uhhhmazing!!
Kirstyn and Aaron!! I’ll basically never stop laughing at the ways Aaron tried to make Kirstyn laugh during their shoot and I’ll also basically never stop freaking out over how lucky we got on this day and the fact that the Missouri River looked like the beaches of California. LOVEEEEEEE!! These two are SUPER CUTE and SUPER SWEET and their wedding day is one I am sooooo looking forward to this year!!
The oh so cute, Jessie and Jared!! From the moment I met them at a Panera, I was like yep, these guys are STRAIGHT COOL. They are going to have a super unique wedding this year and I for one, am PUMPED for it! Jessie had warned me repeatedly about how awkward she/they are, so we spent the majority of their engagement session laughing our asses off, but hot dang, it was amazing, and the pics that resulted from it all are some of my favorite shots I’ve ever taken!
Alli and David!! These guys here, share a random connection with me!! A dear friend of theirs is a guy I worked with for a few years, several years ago! Making that connection at their initial consult was like whattttttttt are the chances! These two had a very pleasant engagement session temp wise, but holy moly you wanna talk about WIND — a storm was coming in and not only did we have to work fast, but we basically nearly got blown away! Not gonna lie though, the shots of Alli’s beautiful hair blowing in the wind are easily some of my favorites EVER!! So pumped for their wedding day this September!
Next up, looking all shades of perfectly Christmas, came Meghan and Chris!! These guys are sweet as heck and a solid duo who you just know without a doubt, are ideal together! Their Christmas tree farm engagement session was PERFECT for the month of December, and so were the mild temps we were lucky to get that day! Their sweetttt pup joined in for a few shots too! SO excited for their upcoming wedding this year!
Andee and Johnny!! From the second Andee first inquired with me about shooting her wedding, I knew she was my kinda girl! But, as fate would have it, I was already booked on her wedding day. After these guys solidified a different KC photographer, Andee reached back out and asked if I could still do their engagement photos and I was PUMPED out of my minddd!!!
Sooooo eternally grateful that I got to meet these guys because they are two of the very, very best! Love their photos so much!
Jillian and Drew were next on my calendar and we had a blast at Weston Bend! Pretty sure despite me having past military couples, Drew is the first groom I’ve had who chose to wear his greens to an engagement session! I loved Jillian’s idea to incorporate an American Flag into some shots, too! These guys are a hoot to be around, and their wedding day is surely going to be oh so fun!
My year of sessions rounded out with this unbelievably precious couple — Annie and Josh! This my friends, was an insanely bitter cold day, my gosh! These two started things off dressed like red carpet celebrities on the KC Plaza, and then we finished up at a Christmas tree farm — with multiple warm-up breaks in the car! So so so cold! But these two were champs about it, and when you’re as in love as they are, not even the bitter cold can phase you! I’m sooo looking forward to their wedding day this year!
