The Little Free Library // book nook
Raise your hand if you love books!! Keep 'em raised if you love the magic that comes from physical pages! Reading books via Kindles or other tablets isn’t the same, at all, ughhhh, OR worse…LISTENING to books on tape…what, NO! Don't get me started lol I'll probably catch some flak for saying that, but that's cool! We'll just have to agree to disagree! :)
A few years ago I oh so randomly — and ohh sooo luckily came across something that I think is SO DANG NEAT and just in case you reading this haven't heard of them, you're about to have your whole wide world flipped upside down YO!!
THREE WORDS — Little Free Library. Have you heard of these!? Though it's now been a few years since I found them, they are something I feel like I don't know how I lived without!
The Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization inspiring the love of reading and helping build community through a WORLD WIDE public, FREE, and super unique book exchange. Like, WHAT!?
Google the words "little free library", or of course, just click this snazzy link I've created for you - Little Free Library. And there you will see for yourself what this is all about!
People — anyone — you could do it too! - build these unique and typically very cute little "houses" in neighborhoods, parks, on bike trails, in front of offices, etc, and in them, are free books! We, people like you and me, we go and we drop off books we'd like to share with others, and in exchange, we can take a book too! That's the whole idea — give a book, take a book! I mean seriously, is this not the coolest thing ever??? CAUSE I THINK IT IS.
This whole thing feels soooo old world to me in a way and I absolutely freakin' love that. Like, Little House on the Prairie or Anne of Green Gables, or Little Women — it feels like something out of those stories! I'm so happy that from my home, I'm close to five(!!) Little Free Library units, and I visit them on the regular to drop off books, and hope to find a good one for myself.
I absolutelyyy suggest you get out there and find a Little Free Library near you! Their website has a map option and you can check to see how far a unit is from you!
